Immigration Lawyers for People Residing in Hong Kong
Canada has created special Permanent Residence programs for those residing in Hong Kong. These programs are in effect until August 31, 2026 though they may be extended. Each applicant must also have a passport issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China or the United Kingdom to a British National Overseas, as a person born, naturalized or registered in Hong Kong. There are two streams available to you.
Hong Kong Immigration Streams
Immigration Stream A
This is for those who have graduated from a Canadian post-secondary educational institution within the last 3 years. 50% of coursework must have been completed while physically here (even if by distance learning).
The criteria is:
- Graduation with a degree or diploma which is 2 years or longer or a graduate or post-graduate degree of 1 year or longer within the last 3 years
- a Canadian Language Benchmark of 5 for English or NCLC 5 for French
- Temporary resident status in Canada;
- Intention to live outside of Quebec
Immigration Stream B
This is for those who have graduated from a Canadian or foreign post-secondary educational institution and have at least one year of Canadian work experience. For foreign graduates, they must show their education is equivalent to Canadian standards.
The criteria is:
- Graduation with a degree or diploma which is 2 years or longer or a graduate or post-graduate degree of 1 year or longer within the last 5 years
- One yar of Canadian work experience in the last 3 years
- a Canadian Language Benchmark of 5 for English or NCLC 5 for French
- Temporary resident status in Canada;
- Intention to live outside of Quebec
